A Review Of The 2016 Mazda6 I Grand Touring Safety Features
Last month, I had the opportunity to test drive a 2016 Mazda6 i Grand Touring for a week. I didn’t have anywhere special to go, but we were in the middle of winter and I was happy to put this vehicle to the test. Literally a few minutes after the vehicle was delivered, hubby and I drove it to go pick our son up from school. I thought the vehicle drove very smoothly and that it was quite nimble. My son’s mouth dropped when he saw it. He thought it was a cool looking car and immediately asked if we could drive him to school the next morning in the Mazda. In fact he wanted to g everywhere in the Mazda. Basketball practice? Check! Basketball game? Check! Supermarket? Check! He really loved the vehicle and so did I!
The 2016 Mazda Mazda6 i Grand Touring is a four-door sedan with a four-cylinder, 2.5 liter engine and an automatic transmission. It can seat up to five passengers which is perfect for my small family of 3. This car also has multiple climate control zones, sophisticated entertainment systems, and front-wheel drive. The fuel economy of this vehicle is also really good. It travels up to 40 miles per gallon on the highway.
This spacious vehicle offers a number of safety, security and convenience features that make it very attractive for families like mine, who are in the market for a new car.
Mazda has a rather long list of safety features for this model. It comes with standard anti-lock brakes, numerous air bags and dynamic stability control. These features are necessary here in the Northeast where we experience all sorts of snowy and icy weather. There are also systems that automatically monitor blind spots and cross-traffic behind the vehicle.
Every year, over 2 million Americans die or suffer injuries due to traffic accidents. This is a major reason why safety matters. Safer vehicles also give motorists greater peace of mind and frequently reduce auto insurance premiums.
The Mazda6 i Grand Touring helps to prevent injuries with sophisticated air bags. They use passenger weight and seatbelt detection for optimal results. Additionally, it has large side-curtain air bags to enhance protection in crashes that throw occupants against the side of the car.
Another great feature of the Grand Touring trim is the standard backup camera. This gives drivers a clear view of any obstacles behind the vehicle. It can stop people from inadvertently backing into pedestrians, other vehicles or low-profile objects like fire hydrants. It’s also perfect for those times when we drive into New York City and have to back in and out of tight parking spaces.
In addition to warning drivers about rear cross-traffic, this vehicle automatically monitors tire pressure and alerts people to potentially hazardous readings. If it was left up to me, I probably would never know when my tire pressure is low, so this is a feature I really like. You can also add on optional sensors that can warn you when the vehicle detects inadvertent lane changes or signs of an impending collision.
Crash Test Results
A safer vehicle design only holds value if it truly reduces the harm caused by accidents. Fortunately, the 2016 Mazda6 has earned “good” or five-star ratings in multiple crash tests. It shields passengers from whiplash and offers superior protection from front, side and roof impacts.
Now that I’ve mentioned the security features, I wanted to talk about one of my favorite features, the Active Driving Display. This is a little screen that pops up when you start up the vehicle that offers up some important driving information such as vehicle speed, turn-by-turn directions, and distance and lane guidance. What I really like about this feature is it’s location. It’s right in front of you, so you don’t have to divert your attention away to see this information.
To sum it up, I have to say that the 2016 Mazda6 i Grand Touring is a fantastic choice for families who want to stay safe and secure. At the same time, it provides top-notch fuel economy, attractive styling and plenty of space for cargo.
